Recently, on February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched an attack on multiple targets in Iran. This has been building up in the military, and after many threats from President Trump, the attack was launched. This attack killed several Iranian officials. Most importantly, it killed their supreme leader, causing a huge surge of anger throughout the country. This led to them retaliating and targeting the US military facilities. According to the Global Conflict Tracker, more than 1,800 have been killed so far, which includes 8 US military members and 175 kids in elementary school. This disaster is getting more serious and fatal. This attack developed into a regional war, and more countries started joining in and attacking one another. This conflict has been ongoing, as when President Trump was in office in 2019, they were having problems as well with Iran. In late June of 2019, Iran had downed a U.S. Hawk Global Drone, which Trump ordered a cyberattack and the imposition of new sanctions as a way to retaliate. Several other small fights like this created even more tension between Iran and the U.S., finally causing a breakthrough and resulting in our war with them currently.
“Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran, as shown by satellite images. Obliteration is an accurate term!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. An Iranian official stated that President Trump would not dictate the timing of the war’s end. However, as of March 25, 2026, the United States and Iran have yet to agree to peace terms. The United States has proposed a 15-point plan to end the war with a complete termination of Iran’s nuclear program, but Iran says they have no plans for negotiations. A vital oil route, “The Strait of Hormuz,” plays a role due to Iran’s desire to be recognized for control over that source and for the US to pay for war reparations. If they did want to resolve the war, Iran must pledge to hand over the uranium it possesses to the International Atomic Energy Agency. In addition, they would also have to stop funding external powers, including Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, and Houthis in Yemen. They would also be required to open the Strait so it could function as a “free maritime corridor,” a fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies, resulting in fear of raised prices and a recession in the world’s economy.
