The Torrance High School Boys’ Volleyball team’s Senior Night was on Wednesday, April 16, 2026. All four of the team’s seniors, Alejandro Liwag, Trenton Wareham, Shane Verzosa, and Dylan Yamauchi, were honored that night by the Tartar crowd.
When asked Thursday about their performance, Liwag shared, “That first set was really bad because we were losing like 18-25, but after that we were able to beat them in three.” When reflecting on the team, Liwag said “Honestly what I will miss most about the team isn’t even the competitive stuff, it’s more like missing my friends, because at the end of the day, I spent so much time and I’ve been practicing with them so much that sometimes I see them more than my own family, so I’m going to miss my teammates a lot.” Even though Liwag is going to graduate this year, he says that “Honestly, I’m really looking forward to the Senior night next year, because all my friends right now are Juniors, so next year they’re going to be seniors, so I can’t wait to see them again.”
Boys Volleyball Head Coach, Nathan Jones, said: “I was really excited that we were able to come back, you know, it was a rough start, but we were able to come back, it kept us in the playoff picture.” When asked about how he felt this year has gone so far, Jones said, “It has been an up and down year; there are things we’ve done pretty well, and we’ve had a good showing in the tournament, but we’ve been a little inconsistent.” Jones left a heartwarming message for the seniors on the team. “Thank you, thank you for all of your contributions on and off the court.”
The Torrance High School Boys Volleyball team is currently 2-4 in league, and 8-16 overall. Wishing the boys good luck in CIF!
