The Seattle Seahawks are your new Super Bowl LX Champions. After defeating the New England Patriots 29-13, the Seahawks hoisted the prestigious Vince Lombardi trophy given out to the best NFL team at the end of the season. This marks Seattle’s second Super Bowl victory in franchise history, and more importantly, gave them the opportunity to avenge their Super Bowl XLIX loss against the Patriots, a loss that has haunted their franchise for a decade.
This year’s bowl game was filled with impressive defensive performances from both sides, with neither team scoring a touchdown until the second half, when Seahawks QB Sam Darnold threw a touchdown to his tight end, A.J. Barner. A big reason why the game was so close in the first half was the Patriots’ secondary led by Christian Gonzales, holding the 2026 Offensive Player of the Year Jaxson Smith-Njigba (JSN) to 27 yards, and Seattle’s pass rush managing to get to Patriots QB Drake Maye, sacking him 6 times.
The players who had the most impressive performances were Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III and Seahawks kicker Jason Myers. Walker was named the 2026 Super Bowl MVP after rushing for 135 yards and carrying the offense into scoring position. Walker joins former Seahawks linebacker Malcom Smith as the only Seahawks to win Super Bowl MVP in franchise history. Myers broke the NFL record for most field goals made in a Super Bowl, going 5/5 on extra points. Myers contributed all of the points scored in the first half of the game.
Seattle now has the chance to win back-to-back Super Bowls, cementing their legacy as a dynasty. The Seahawks have managed to revive their days of the “Legion of Boom,” which is considered one of the greatest defenses assembled in NFL history, in just a few years after entering a rebuild after trading their Franchise QB, Russell Wilson, to the Denver Broncos, who managed to win them a Super Bowl. The Seahawks path to recapturing the trophy is not easy, as they are part of the stacked NFC West division, where they will have the Los Angeles Rams, who have managed to improve every single year after their Super Bowl hangover in the 2022-2023 NFL season, and the San Francisco 49ers, who always manage to stay competitive despite having many weak spots.
