Gibson Turner has had an astounding season this year with a shocking 25 touchdowns, 2,086 passing yards, and a 66% completion rate.
He gives credit to his success to his coaching staff and teammates saying, “we have a bunch of guys on our team who can go out and make plays. So my job’s a lot easier.”
One key moment for Turner was the win against Redondo, which ultimately boosted the team’s confidence to give it their all and continue to win the rest of the league games.
Gibson also depends heavily on his teammates and the offensive line to keep him safe during these nerve-racking plays to maintain his high completion rate. He explains, “I think we ran a lot of plays where I could get the ball out quick and get them in my receiver’s hands quickly. So a lot of quick early completions and just letting our guys go to work.”
One particular touchdown pass that he was most proud of was a touchdown to teammate Chapman Hurley against San Pedro. Despite taking a hit, he found a wide-open receiver to throw to for the touchdown. Turner recalls the play, “I rolled out left, and I got killed, but I got the ball out, and wide open, Chap scored the touchdown.”
Gibson Turner is loved and praised among his teammates, coaches, and peers. One of Turner’s teammates, Zach Williams, explains that, “Gibson cares about us a lot. Like he actually supports us.” To his teammates, Turner is not only their quarterback, he is a leader. Williams describes the game against North, “We had two minutes left, and then we had to get one more [score]. We didn’t have a lot of time. So we just ran quick, quick, quick, and Gibson was leading, commanding the whole offense.”
Overall, Gibson Turner’s stats not only reflect how great a player he is, they also show how big a leader he has grown to be.
