Here at Torrance High most, if not all students, possess a phone: a versatile tool to take photos, communicate, play games, do homework, and more. All with the help of apps. But what apps should you consider adding to your home screen? Apps that can enhance your projects or maybe ones that activate your creativity and personal hobbies, or to just get your life in order? Well, here are a few suggestions!
Ever feeling writers or artist blocks? Needing a spark of inspiration for a project? Pinterest can be the ticket to getting you started in any creative endeavor. Pinterest has a vast range of content that you can reference or use.
Paige Hoang, a Junior, personally says that it “Helps me organize my ideas, helps me creatively, [it’s] not the source of my creativity, but it definitely helps encourage me. It’s so diverse, it doesn’t feel like an average social media platform. I see it more as a creative outlet to get inspiration from”.
Pinterest themselves express their value for inspiration as written on their help center page: “it’s a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more”. In art class or just as an artist you can use it to know what poses you want a character in. Photographers can get ideas for the types of composition in photos you could use. Not only this but Pinterest can inspire you in direction in writing, as many people post inspirational quotes from poets and novelists.
Notion
Life can be chaotic, especially when balancing school, work, hobbies, and relationships. An app that can make this whole juggling act easier and keep your planning for projects easier is Notion. Notion is an app and website that provides users with a space to write, plan, organize, and manage thoughts and ideas. It utilizes a variety of online tools like being able to make calendars, your own notebooks, collaborate with others and much more. This can be a great way to sort works in progress at the brainstorming stages, and also to put a date on when tests are or projects are due.
“I like Notion. It helps me organize my classes and what I’m doing for that day,” Zyra Castino, a Junior, says. She also mentions that it “has a lot of features if you’re going to do group work because you can share the Notion to other people” and that “You can also decorate your Notion so you know when your things are pretty.”
Capcut
One of my personal favorite apps that can improve the productivity of your creative endeavors and academic life is Caput. In this day in age, everybody edits videos to create Tik Toks, school projects, and more. It’s beginner friendly with it’s easy to use templates as well as transitions, video effects, filters, and more. It’s available to download as an app on your phone as well as on a computer if using a mouse and keyboard is more comfortable for you. The interface of the software is simple, so you don’t need to worry by being bombarded with a bunch of buttons you don’t understand. Capcut is used by Tiktokers and Youtubers and it can be used by you too!
All three apps mentioned are all available on a mobile or PC for free. Let your creativity flow and grow with Pinterest, Notion, and Capcut, or even a combination of the three!
