Last Tuesday, February 20th,  Mrs. Sluyter, who we all know and love, was awarded the annual Outstanding Teacher Award by Torrance High’s PTA.

Mrs. Sluyter was nominated by another favorite from Torrance High’s English department, Mrs. Clark. Mrs. Clark, recognizing how “she works so hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact upon the lives of others, wanted her to receive recognition.” Surprised, Mr. Sluyter said she was “very honored and [she] appreciated the person who nominated [her.]”

Not only was Mrs. Sluyter grateful for this award, but her students were also glad to see Mrs. Sluyter get this recognition as they made sure to be there to watch the PTA celebrate her Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Sluyter has put so much time and effort into the betterment of Torrance High’s English department and the well-being of her students. Congratulations Mrs. Sluyter! Torrance High is so glad to have you!!
