Last Friday, the entire Torrance football team made their own milestone in Tartar history. In a game against the Redlands Terriers at the Redlands Stadium the Tartars departed victorious with a score of 21-14.
Starting the game off the two teams seemed evenly matched—when Torrance made a touchdown the Terriers would respond moments later with an opposing one. In the first quarter Tartar running back Ryan Young started the game off with an 8 yard touchdown, and in return—after kickoff—the Terriers ran almost 70 yards to their end zone, matching the scores. Again in the second quarter running back Malikai Johnson pressed down field for a 20 yard TD, then in minutes a Terrier wide receiver had rushed the field for a corresponding touchdown.
Going into the final quarter with an even score of 14-14, Torrance mustered up a final burst of energy with a over 20 yard touchdown, but the Redlands Terriers were unable to compensate for the points needed in time.
Now in preparation for their face off with the Hemet Bulldogs at the semi-finals, Torrance Football is regrouping and training hard for their aspiring win. With a win in sight, Young speaks for the team and says that the upcoming game will echo the old saying, “another day, another dollar.”
