The joyful, happy feeling that you get knowing that Christmas is soon to arrive is like no other. But as you get older, it seems to be more difficult to really feel or get into the Christmas spirit. Remember that joy as a young child, knowing that Christmas was only days away or knowing that you would soon put up a Christmas tree and decorate it with lots of bright sparkly ornaments. I mean, who doesn’t love feeling the Christmas spirit unless you’re the Grinch right? Well, if you haven’t been able to grasp that jolly feeling of Christmas, no need to worry! They’re are plenty of fun and exciting things you can do to get into the Christmas Spirit!
- Listen To Christmas Music
What better way to get into the Christmas spirit like listening to Christmas music. Personally, I love listening to Christmas music to help me get into the Christmas spirit. Being able to put KOST 103.5 on the radio and hear Mariah Carey’s one of a kind song “All I Want For Christmas” makes me super happy and excited for this special time of the year. Listening to this music can help you really feel like you’re in a winter wonderland or the nostalgic feeling of Christmas morning as a child. Even if you don’t listen to the radio or just prefer listening to your personal favorite Christmas songs, you can make your own Christmas playlist. And don’t forget the original songs like “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” or “Frosty The Snowman”!
- Go visit Candy Cane Lane
Candy Cane Lane is an area that consists of multiple blocks of houses decorated with beautiful and stunning Christmas decorations. Most, and if not all, the houses hang bright and sparkly Christmas lights around their house and even on the trees in their lawn. Many of these homeowners set up lots of festive Christmas inflatables (or even wood) decorations. These inflatables can be anything from Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, characters from movies and TV shows, and much more. Best of all, you can enjoy all of this from the comfort of your car and drive around the neighborhood. Or you can simply walk around and admire all the decorations. There are various Candy Cane Lanes that you can visit like here in Torrance or in El Segundo. Make sure to go check it out!
- Watch Christmas Movies
There’s nothing like being curled up on the couch with hot cocoa and a blanket and watching a good Christmas movie. There are so many amazing Christmas movies to choose from like the Grinch, Polar Express, Home Alone, and Elf. My personal favorite is Home Alone which is about a young boy who is left home alone and must stop the robbers, who have been lurking the neighborhood, in efforts of protecting the house. Even if you don’t have any streaming services like DIsney+, you can watch many of these movies through cable on channels such as Freeform who are currently showing their annual “25 Days of Christmas” where they display Christmas movies from December first to December twenty fifth. So grab your coziest blanket and watch these amazing movies that won’t disappoint.
- Build A Gingerbread House
You can’t have Christmas without a gingerbread house! Building gingerbread houses is a great way to spend quality time with friends and loved ones all while working together to build the most beautiful gingerbread house. You can even buy extras to have a competition of who will build the best house. With the sweet white icing and bright colorful candies, you can design your house however you desire. Your gingerbread house can add the perfect touch to all your Christmas decor.
- Do a Secret Santa
Secret Santa is an exciting way of exchanging gifts by simply drawing names and getting the person you drew a gift. The interesting part of Secret Santa is the mystery of not knowing who got which person. This fun activity is great to do with friends or family members as a way of gift giving for Christmas. But don’t forget to keep it a secret so you don’t ruin the fun!
Hope you have an amazing holiday season!
