Man, Friday night at our school? It’s chaos—in the best way. Everywhere you look, it is just a flood of maroon and gray. The whole school seems to show up to Zamp every Friday. Even the parents go to the football games. People are always getting hype, yelling, waving flags, all in the stands. You can feel the adrenaline— you’d think we were at the Super Bowl or something.
Homecoming was no different; in fact, right before halftime, things got even crazier. Everyone was buzzing, not just about the scoreboard but because the top 30 were about to be announced. Plus, the homecoming queen and king—now that’s what people were really waiting for, and when they started reading out names, you could barely hear anything over the crowd losing their minds. Every name got its own mini-explosion of cheers. These weren’t just random kids, either—these were the ones who actually put in work, helped out around school, made school less of a responsibility and more fun.
And then, boom—Kaya and Nori got crowned. People freaked out. There were hugs, a couple of smiles, and honestly, you could tell everyone was pumped for them. They’re the type who just get everyone together and make stuff happen. Perfect picks, if you ask me.
Look, Friday night isn’t really Friday night if you don’t end up at In-N-Out after. That’s just how it goes. Whether we won or totally bombed the game, we still packed into cars and rolled over there. Burgers, fries, people squished into booths, cracking up about who did what during the game—those are the moments you remember. The game’s cool and all, but it’s the dumb inside jokes and the late-night fries that really stick with you. That’s what keeps everyone coming back year after year. The homecoming game was no different than a regular Friday night, after the game everyone ended up at in-n-out. It was so packed to the point where the workers had to close the doors and everyone had to wait in line to get in.
