The girls’ flag football team played a home game against West on Tuesday, October 14th, at Zamperini Field. This was their last game of the season, so it was Torrance’s senior night, and the team sent the Class of ‘26 off in style, winning 40-6. Torrance’s seniors are Kaya Henderson, Makenzie Lippen, Jennah Black, and Malia Telea; the team celebrated them during a pre-game ceremony.
Sophomore Addison Wall shared her favorite memory with Makenzie and Kaya: “My favorite memory with Makenzie was her taking me in as part of the team,” and “my favorite memory with Kaya was joking around at practice and always laughing with her.”
The game started with Torrance on offense. Within the first thirty seconds of the game, Jennah Black (#13) scored a touchdown, putting the score at 6-0, with a successful PAT, making it 7-0. Torrance doubled their lead when Addison Wall intercepted a West pass attempt and ran it back for a touchdown. In the second quarter, Torrance scored another touchdown that got them up to 21-0. Then, West got their first touchdown, putting the score at 21-6. After a couple of minutes, Torrance got another touchdown by Ysabella Addison, making the score 28-6 after the successful PAT. The next Torrance touchdown was made by Shiloh Kira, setting the score at 34-6. That was the score at halftime. The cheerleaders put on a small halftime show, and the players hydrated to recharge for the next quarter. When the game resumed, Torrance started defense, and West was offense. With 5 minutes left in that quarter, Jennah Black ran back an interception, giving Torrance their final touchdown of the night and increasing their lead to 40-6, the final score
Senior Jenna Black had a good feeling before the game: “I had a feeling we would win…I knew since it was Senior Night, everyone wanted to play well and just have fun.”
