This past weekend on Saturday, October 11, Torrance High students had a blast at their Homecoming Dance! The day was filled with many students taking a ton of photos, dancing, singing and having fun with their friends! Homecoming is a time where you can come to school and instead of learning, you can just enjoy your time with your peers!
In the morning, the Service League club arrived at school early to decorate the gym and the outside for homecoming. They put in a lot of hard work weeks prior to prepare for this special day. It paid off. Tyson Kaay, a sophomore at Torrance High, said “The energy in the place was fun! The homecoming decor was pretty cool because they had different signs and cutouts that represented things that are in Las Vegas. It made it feel like we were in Las Vegas.” Service League adorned the walls with handmade cutouts of the Sphere, Venetian, poker chips, playing cards, roulette wheels and more! They even added lights for even more added decoration around the gym?
The most important thingt about homecoming is obviously the dancing and singing. You are always promised a fun time when dancing and music is involved. Alia Michael-Ho, a Sophmore at Torrance High, exclaimed “I enjoyed hoco because the music they played, like Gangnam Style, and other 2010’s songs were really electric, allowing me to dance in various fun ways.” There was a fantastic DJ hired that really got everyone hyped up on the dance floor. Everyone was able to dance to songs they liked because the DJ played all kinds of songs from upbeat songs to slow dance songs. Dancing can be really tiring, so they also had water inside that you can buy to keep yourself hydrated and they also handed out delicious brownies for everyone to enjoy. Senior Mikila Nash says this about her last hoco: “My favorite part about hoco was the lights and the dancing. I really enjoyed seeing everyone dance together and have fun.”
During homecoming, everyone looked radiant with fresh suits and ties and really pretty dresses in all colors. There was a photobooth located in the quad, and a photo backdrop so that everyone could get the best pictures. The energy in Torrance High School on this night was especially welcoming, fun and bright and everyone had the best time. Homecoming was a great success!
