Torrance High School’s girls volleyball program recently had its Senior Night, a special game dedicated to recognizing the hard work, leadership, and accomplishments of the team’s graduating players. The event took place during their match against Redondo, bringing together students, families, and staff to celebrate the seniors. Before the game, each senior was introduced to the crowd and escorted by their families. Flower crowns, balloons, and decorations filled the gym as teammates, coaches, and fans showed their support.
This year’s senior class includes Jojo Lee, Madeline Lopez, Anissa Olivias, and Neha Manoj. During their time at Torrance High School, these athletes have played key roles in shaping their team, from setting the tone at practices to stepping up during important moments in the matches. Many have been part of the program since their freshman year, growing alongside their teammates and leaving a lasting legacy for the future Tartars to follow.
For senior Neha Manoj (‘26), the night was an unreal experience: “Being recognized during Senior Night was unreal; it didn’t really register to me that it was almost the end of everything, that I wasn’t a freshman but a senior finishing my year.” She also reflected on the impact the night had on seniors and underclassmen. “Seeing all my underclassmen crying made me realize just how much we’ve been and grown through as teammates and really set in stone that it was senior night not just for us seniors but also for my teammates who looked up to us.”
The sense of community was extremely strong throughout the evening. “It felt a lot smaller, like everyone was there to support and be there for us,” Neha said. “The support from my teammates and peers was what drove the passion behind my play, keeping me motivated and passionate!”
Looking back on her years with the program, Neha credited Torrance volleyball for shaping her as both a player and a person. “Playing at Torrance taught me the importance of discipline and patience, shaping me to be an understanding and supportive player whilst also striving for my best.”
