The first home game of the Torrance High football season was a huge success for the Tartars.“It was a great domination,” said star Torrance football player Vaughn Reinhart when summing up the Tartars’ home opener against the St. Anthony Saints.
The stadium was packed with hundreds cheering on the team. Maroon Monsoon presidents Jenna Black and Hector Chavez were super happy with the involvement of the student section at last Friday’s game. The Maroon Monsoon was packed with students decked out in USA-themed clothing, “screaming as loud as they can,” Jenna Black said.
And most importantly, the Tartar football team won with a 45-7 final score.

Shortly after the Tartars’ third touchdown, the Saints scored a rapid 80-yard rushing touchdown, adding 7 points for themselves, their only touchdown of the night.
With 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Saints reached Torrance’s red zone, but were unable to score. Torrance regained possession on their 30-yard line, maintaining their 38-7 lead.
Immediately after, new Torrance transfer, Keason Pressley, who has been making a huge impact for the Tartars so far, made a whopping 74-yard rushing touchdown into the goal line for the Tartars.
