Torrance Track and Field competed in a tri-meet against Culver City and Palisades Wednesday, February 26th, with many personal records to be had as the track season enters full steam.
The meet started with the 4×100 meter relay, then went into the 1600 meter race where seniors Jack Campbell and Vince De Guzman took first and second place in the varsity boys race with times of 4:39 (A season record for Jack) and 4:55 (A PR for Vince).
Next was the 100 meter hurdles, where freshman Jacob Christian took first in the boys frosh/soph race and senior Alessandra Armendariz took first in the girls varsity race.
Juniors Makayla Cox and Nicolas Obimgba both took first place for their varsity 100 meter race, in girls and boys respectively. Nicolas went on to get first in the boys varsity 200 meter race as well.
Later into the night was the 3200 meter, which out of respect for time was combined with boys and girls from both frosh/soph and varsity running at the same time. Freshman Chris Serrano took first place, with a flush of seven Torrance runners taking the top spots.
The team is competing at Loyola Marymount University this Thursday, all in preparation for the Redondo Invitational on Friday and Saturday, one of the biggest meets of the season.
