Christmas has become that time of the year for people to come together, rejoicing in the spirit of the holiday that fills itself with warm love and comfort. Some say that celebrating it entails spending time with family and friends, spreading joy through gifts, and performing acts of kindness. Commemorating the films, songs, and decorations centered on the holiday, largely listening to Christmas songs that lift up the cheers of the joyful holiday season. And in honor of the Christmas spirit, Tartar students give their opinion of the best Christmas song ever created!
There is such a wide variety of songs that make Christmas feel nostalgic like a bright Christmas morning or that truly brings the joy of Christmas like no other. I mean how do you even choose a favorite?
With songs like “Last Christmas” by Wham! to Mariah Carey’s iconic song “All I Want For Christmas” from her album “Merry Christmas” taking first place on Billboard’s “Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs”. Staying true to Mariah Carey’s Christmas hype, Yerin Choi explains one of the reasons other than sentimentality is that her favorite song is, ” always first place on the billboard.” Claiming it based not only on statistics, but also on what the songs add to the holiday season.
While other old classic songs are popular at this time of year! Tartar students have also chosen relatively new seasonal songs that are associated with music from artists such as Justin Bieber’s song “Mistletoe” from his Christmas album “Under the Mistletoe.” Ariana Grande’s “Santa Tell Me” came out almost a decade ago. Showing how even modern tunes that vary from old carols can uplift spirits and brighten the season like old times!
Fellow Tartar, Kira Cabanata, shares how her favorite Christmas song is “Christmas Time Is Here” by Vince Guaraldi Trio. She expresses how the song “fills me with warmth” and “gives a very homey and calm vibe perfect for the Christmas season”. How lovely!
