The anticipation grew as everyone entered the Main Gym, curious to see what place their class was. Before all the games, Juniors were ahead with Seniors in second, Sophomores in third, Freshman in last.
The first game included puzzle pieces: four representatives from each grade had to run and slide on an inflatable mattress in order to reach the end of the basketball court. Then, there would be one contestant waiting at the other end who would run back to the start side with the inflatable and a puzzle piece that was a block.
The winner between the Seniors and Sophomores was the Seniors and between the Juniors and Freshman were the Juniors. For the final round it was very close between the Seniors and Juniors, but with only a couple inches between, the Juniors took first place.
Minutes after, the Torrance High Drill team performed an incredible dance that blew people away with how good it was.
The next game played also included inflatables, but this time in the form of inflatable costumes. A new set of students layed on the gym floor and rolled their way across the court while the mascot was on top, standing on a boogie board. Again for this game, Juniors did end up winning.
Next was the Cheer and Song performance, with the performers doing a mixture of dancing as well as acrobatics as flyers were lifted into the air.
Continuing with the games, the last one involved four students from each grade, plus four teachers. Mr. Chung, Mr. Hays, Ms. Rashid, and Ms. Dapal were the four selected where all participants had to play blindfolded musical chairs. Just like regular musical chairs, everyone had to find a chair once the music stopped, but this time, they were blindfolded and the chairs were spread out everywhere. The sophomores ended up winning, but it still left the Juniors in first place. The sophomores ended up winning the game, but it still left the Juniors in first place.
Shortly after, Students of the month and all other awards were announced along with the athletes of the month. Then it was Top 30. They performed a short routine with many songs combined.
In the end, the Junior class ended up taking the trophy home, which was a devastating loss to the Senior class especially, since, as the oldest on campus, they were slated to win. I guess we’ll see what happens at the next rally!
