Beginning last week, select students from art classes (namely Art 4) began to work on the art installation outside ASB. The mural was first painted last year on two sides of the planter, one faceing breezeway that has the words to the alma mater, whilst the other, facing the math building, reads “Tartar Pride”, surrounded by drawings done by previous art students of iconic Torrance High symbols.
When asked about the purpose of the installation, one of the artists, Senior Addison Courier stated that the mural is meant “To represent all the different clubs, extracurriculars, and all the different things that make up Torrance High.” Each drawing means something to the student who drew it.
Some notable drawings include a black and white American flag, a basketball, a surfer, theater masks, and musical notes. These murals certainly brighten up the campus and we might even see more or these installations popping up around campus in the coming years!
