Having moved up from the Frosh team as of this year sophomore quarterback Gibson Turner is making quite a stir on the varsity team. As a sophomore, Turner is starting for the 2024-25 season, and during the St. Anthony game this past Friday he led the team to a 28-7 win.
The intense match up last Friday led to a stalemate for the first part of the game; though soon enough the Tartar offense would break through and make a touchdown for the team
During the second quarter of the St. Anthony game the Torrance team put up the most fight making 3 touchdowns and holding a lead of 21-0.
These TDs are attributed to wide receiver Zachary Papscoe, running back Vaughn Reinert, and quarterback Connor Shearing, with their hard work keeping the Saints back and away from the endzone.
Still the frustrated Saints would not throw in the towel—to their own advantage—as returning from half time they made their own trip to the endzone bringing up 7 points for themselves.
Ending the game with a last show of strength Torrance made a final attempt at a touchdown by the goal line with linebacker Jake Silverman maneuvering his way through the Saints defense and earning the team the final 21 point lead.
Now the Tartars are moving on to their next game against El Segundo with a 3-0 overall score.
